We carried out a big renovation project on an old bungalow villa in Northcote, owned by a young growing family who needed more room and flexibility. We created a whole new space by adding an extension on top of the existing bungalow. To this top level, we added a master bedroom with an ensuite and wardrobe. Downstairs, we did a makeover of the bedrooms, kitchen, dining area and lounge.
We faced a number of obstacles and restrictions during this build. The villa is situated on a small section on a narrow street. There were also heritage constraints which meant the extension had to suit the style of the old villa and look like it had always been there. To overcome these challenges, we shrink wrapped their entire home to allow us to remove the roof and reframe the villa.
We transformed an old bungalow villa into a beautiful two-storey home, giving them more room with a well-designed layout and look, whilst still conserving the heritage of their home.
